USC gets second offensive line commit
Bellflower (Calif.) four-star offensive tackle Nico Falah may have wrapped up the Trojans offensive line recruiting for 2013 in one day by committing to USC.
Falah was commitment No. 2 for the Trojans Wednesday and commitment No. 13 in the 2013 class.
"Next year I'll be attending the University of Southern California," said Falah from St. John Bosco High School. "It's the place to be and I think I can be really successful there."
At 6-foot-4, 270-pounds, Falah is rated California's No. 1 offensive tackle and the nation No. 14 offensive tackle. While Falah announced his commitment Wednesday night, his decision had been three weeks ago.
"I've know where I was going for a while," said Falah. "I just felt USC had all of the right things for me and that's where I could meet my full potential."
Falah had originally narrowed his list of choices to USC, UCLA, Cal and Oregon, but he wanted to stay local.
"I [unofficially] visited USC a couple of times and really liked the school," said Falah. "The coaches are cool and I like them a lot, but the program itself is great. Even if the coaches left, I feel like USC is still a program that could prepare me for life after college.
"The best of the best compete at USC and it's SoCal. I know I wanted to live here and it's pretty much the best place to be. I want my family to be around and I want them to be able to come down and watch my games live. USC was the total package for me."
Falah becomes the second offensive line recruit to commit to USC Wednesday, following the sudden pledge from Elkton (Md.) four-star offensive guard Khaliel Rodgers. With limited scholarship offers available for the 2013 class, USC gets the nation's No. 1 guard prospect and an athlete offensive tackle all with the span of five hours.
At The Opening last week, Falah put together one of the most impressive statistical lines for any offensive lineman testing in Beaverton (Ore.)
Falah ran a 5.03 40-yard dash, a 4.28 shuttle run and jumped 27.3-inches to accumulate a 95.76 SPARQ rating. That was fourth best among offensive linemen at the event.
