Tigers learn their path

Fresh off a pre-tournament school-record 30 wins and a Big 12 Tournament title, the Missouri Tigers found out their postseason fate on Sunday evening.

The Tigers are a two seed in the West Regional. They will face 15th-seeded Norfolk State in the first round on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska. Game times will be announced later tonight. Should the Tigers win their opener, they would face the winner of the 7/10 game between Florida and Virginia on Sunday.

If Mizzou manages to win both in Omaha, their road will go through Phoenix, Arizona. Potential opponents in Phoenix would be Michigan State (one seed), Marquette (3), Louisville (4), New Mexico (5) and Murray State (6).

The Tigers are 30-and-4, including a 17-and-4 record in Big 12 games after having beaten Oklahoma State, Texas and Baylor. Following the title game, Missouri players did some lobbying in the media for a number one seed, but ultimately those spots went to Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina and Michigan State.

"Whether we're a one seed, a two seed, a three seed, whatever. Whether we're in St. Louis or Arizona doesn't matter," Frank Haith said. "Let's go win a championship."

Regardless of the seed, Marcus Denmon stated the Tigers' objective to a crowd of maybe 3000 fans: "We're gonna try to get six more for everyone in here."

PowerMizzou.com will be live with the Tigers on Selection Sunday and will travel to each game the team plays throughout the NCAA Tournament to provide Tiger fans with the most complete coverage available. If you are not yet a member, just try out our free trial.
