FSU stunned by Princeton in triple overtime
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)-Ian Hummer had 25 points and 15 rebounds and Douglas Davis had 25 points-including a pair of 3-pointers in the third overtime-as Princeton outlasted Florida State 75-73 on Friday night.
The Seminoles trailed by 17 at the half but stormed back to tie the game at 47. Florida State had its chances to win, including Bernard James' missed free-throw attempt with the game tied at 53 with 1.8 seconds left in the first overtime.
The Seminoles made just 11 of 22 free-throw attempts in Florida State's first triple-overtime game in program history.
Denton Koon added seven points and 10 rebounds for Princeton (7-7).
The Seminoles scored 10 first-half points, breaking the mark for their worst first half in Tallahassee. Florida State shot 4 of 24 from the floor (16.7 percent) and was 0 for 11 from beyond the 3-point arc in the first half.
Turnovers hurt Florida State early. The Seminoles had 11 turnovers in the first half but finished the game with 16.
Florida State regrouped in the second half, shooting 15 of 25 from the floor (60 percent).
With the upset loss, FSU closes out the 2011 year with an 8-4 record. That's the worst pre-New Years mark for the Seminoles since the 2004-05 season.
