Control the ball
1

In Nebraska's exhibition win over Doane and season opener victory over South Dakota, the Huskers turned the ball over a total of 46 times, including 28 against the Tigers. That simply won't cut it against some of the better competition NU will face the rest of the season, beginning with tonight's game against a scrappy and opportunistic USC backcourt. This goes for the entire team, as eight different Huskers turned the ball over at least once against the Coyotes on Friday night.
Get Talley going
2

Junior guard Dylan Talley had an impressive official Husker debut on Friday, as he finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists against South Dakota. Add in his 12-point performance against Doane, and Talley has already shown flashes of the spark he could provide to Nebraska's offense this season. The competition will obviously be at a whole different level tonight against the Trojans, but the Huskers would be well served to get the ball in Talley's hands and let him show what he can do on a bigger stage.
Get ready for the road
3

It's been a while since Nebraska has had such a formidable road test this early in the season. With just one regular season game under their belts, the Huskers will have to travel halfway across the country to play a quality USC team two and a half hours later than they're used to tipping off. Challenges like this generally don't happen so soon for NU, so how the team responds to all the different nuances a first road game presents could very well set the tone for the rest of the non-conference schedule.

Head coach Doc Sadler on point guard Bo Spencer shooting just 1-9 from the field vs. USD:

"I don't really worry about Bo shooting the basketball because he has proven in practice that he can shoot. Again, it's going to take Bo some time because he has not played in a year. The level of play, no matter what it is, is going to be different for you. The speed is going to be different for you. You are playing against things you don't see in practice. But for him to go out there and play 30 minutes and not have any turnovers, I thought that was pretty good."
Senior guard Caleb Walker on finally getting the season underway:

"We've had about 23-24 practices now, so it definitely feels good to get back into the action of the game flow. It's really good to know that it's here now and it's time to play."
