Seven Arkansas athletes nominated for US Army Bowl
The U.S. Army All-American bowl is one of America's premier high school all-star games for elite division one caliber athletes. The event began in 2002, and has featured some of the absolute best players America has had to offer since that time.
Each year, several prospects are nominated to play in the game, and Arkansas has been represented well in previous years.
For the Class of 2012, seven prospects from the Natural state have been nominated.
Jonesboro athlete Zac Brooks has earned a nomination to play in the game. Brooks currently holds 11 Division One scholarship offers and counting. Brooks is a guy who can make plays at multiple positions, and is expected to play for a major college program.
Warren wide receiver Jalen Cobb is currently committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks, and comes from a high school known for producing not only Division One talent, but some of the best wide receivers currently playing collegiate football. Cobb is expected to follow in the footsteps of former Lumberjacks Basmine Jones, Chris Gragg, Jarius Wright, and Greg Childs who are all currently playing college football.
Bearden athlete Defonta Lowe is almost a one-man show. He is a player who can take an entire game into his own hands on both offense and defense, and can make plays on both sides of the ball. He has not attended any camps this spring, but he has shown that he is good enough on the field to get the job done.
Pulaski Academy quarterback Fredi Knighten is going to be another record-setting quarterback out of the Bruins high powered offensive attack. He has shown a lot of upside as an underclassman, and already holds multiple Division One scholarship offers. His combination of size, speed, and a strong arm makes him deadly on the football field.
East Poinsett County linebacker A.J. Turner is all man on the football field, and is one of three players nominated who is currently committed to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. His hard hitting, ball hawking skills sets him apart from all others on the field, and you can bet he will be bringing the wood on Saturday's in Fayetteville.
Pottsville lineman Jeremy Ward is no stranger to the U.A. Army circuit. He physically dominated any and everything at the 2011 U.S. Army combine. His performance earned him several quality Division One offers, to include the one he always dreamed of; an offer from the Arkansas Razorbacks. He gave his commitment to coach Bobby Petrino almost immediately upon receiving the offer.
Greenbrier quarterback Neal Burcham is another solid quarterback from the Natural state who has been nominated. He has tremendous poise and a solid arm and delivery. He may honestly be flying under the radar a bit right now, as the Arkansas class of 2012 has a solid group of quarterbacks receiving some good recruiting interest.
Needless to say, this crop of young men who have been nominated is a very talented crop. They are all high character players on and off of the field, and will represent the State of Arkansas to the fullest if selected to play in the game.
