Jones offers list is growing
Jonathan Jones took numerous unofficial visits across the Southeast and other areas. And since those trips, the 5-foot-10 and 165-pound cornerback has increased his list of offers.Earlier this spring, Carrollton (Ga.) junior
"Things have been going good and I've picked up a couple new offers like Wake Forest and Texas Tech," said Jones. "I have also bee talking some with Stanford, Auburn and Florida State. We start spring practice this week and a few schools have already stopped by like Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Stanford and Louisville."
Jones also owns previous offers from Mississippi State, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Illinois and Stanford. And Jones admitted it's bee an "surprise" of sorts to receive those early offers.
"I expected to get a couple," said Jones. "But I have a few more than I expected. I sure can't complain where I am at right now and it's been good."
Jones took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State back in March and checked out the Bulldogs' spring practice. Since that time he said he's remained in constant contact with the MSU coaching staff.
"It's going good with Mississippi State and I keep good communication with them and I really like them right now," said Jones. "I like the coaches I've gotten to know and I really like Coach (Dan) Mullen's coaching style. They are all down-to-earth guys and they are all about winning."
This summer, Jones plans to hit the road again and take in several camp visits. Once those trips conclude, Jones said he will narrow down his list of favorites.
"Right now I can't really even say I have top schools," said Jones. "I am still collecting offers and I hope to narrow it down to a Top 5 before schools starts. I will probably go to quite a few camps. I will definitely get down to Mississippi State and Georgia Tech. I will start with those two and just go from there.
"The big thing is to develop those relationships with the coaches between now and signing day. That will be a big factor to help me find out where I fit in the best."
