Pinkston hoping weekend brings good news
Josh Pinkston admits it's been difficult to not obsess over what the next few days may or may not bring.
The three-star wide receiver from Forest, Miss., will visit Ole Miss this weekend, and he's not at all sure about what to expect.
"I'm going to try to work out either grayshirting or going on scholarship," Pinkston said. "I feel OK with (grayshirting), but I hope things work out where I won't have to grayshirt."
If grayshirting is Pinkston's only option, he said he'd have to do some major soul-searching before reaching a final decision.
"You never know what could happen with the situation and the staff there," Pinkston said.
Pinkston visited Northwestern (La.) State last weekend. He said his time spent checking out the Demons' program was "good, better than I thought it would be."
Still, he's hoping to play at the Division I level. Besides Ole Miss, Pinkston said Miami, Iowa, Arizona and North Carolina have inquired about him recently, though none of those programs have offered a scholarship.
If Ole Miss were to come through with an offer this weekend, Pinkston said he "would go ahead and grab it."
Meanwhile, the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder said he's trying not to let the process consume him.
"It's not really nerve-wracking. I'm just being patient and trying to make the best decision for me and my family. I'm just kind of waiting to see what happens.
"You have to be patient. You have to get your sleep. It can be (trying) at times. I try not to think about it. I put it in God's hands."
Pinkston is one of 7-9 official visitors scheduled in Oxford this weekend. Others of note include defensive back Artez Brown and linebacker Cedrick Cooper. Brown is committed to the Rebels, while Cooper is considering Ole Miss, Arkansas and South Carolina.
