Scouting report: Arizona State at No. 20 Washington
Matchup: Arizona State Sun Devils (9-9, 1-5 Pac-10) at No. 20 Washington Huskies (14-4, 6-1)
Tip: Saturday, 1 p.m., Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, Seattle
TV, radio: FSN-NW will broadcast the game locally, with Steve Physioc and Ernie Kent calling the action. Saturday's game may be heard on the radio on KJR 950-AM with Bob Rondeau and Jason Hamilton on the call.
Coaches: Lorenzo Romar, Washington (ninth year); Herb Sendek, Arizona State (fifth year).
Series: Arizona State holds a 36-34 advantage in the all-time series, but the Huskies have managed to win 14 of the past 17 matchups, including last year's 79-56 win in Seattle.
About the Huskies: The Huskies remain alone atop the Pac-10 after their 85-68 victory over Arizona Thursday night. Isaiah Thomas continues to amaze for Washington as he finished with 22 points and 10 assists against Arizona. Justin Holiday has recently stepped up his offensive game, averaging 20 points per game in his past three games. The Huskies have looked almost unstoppable at home this season, and they seem to be playing their best basketball right now.
About the Sun Devils: Arizona State is coming off of a 78-61 loss to Washington State on Thursday night in Pullman. Arizona State comes into Saturday's game short-handed as three reserve players: Carrick Felix, Brandon Dunson, and Chanse Creekmur did not make the trip to Seattle due to illness. Arizona State is led by last year's first team all Pac-10 guard Ty Abbott, who is averaging 13.5 points per game. Jamelle McMillan, the senior and Seattle native returns home, bringing his 6.2 points per game with 4.2 assists average to Hec Ed. The Sun Devils allowed Washington State's big man, DeAngelo Casto, to score a career-high 25 points on Thursday night. Look for UW's forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning to have a big night taking advantage of the Sun Devil's struggling frontcourt defense.
