Texas Tech Texas Tech (7-5, 3-5) is headed to its 11th-straight bowl game, and 34rd overall, as the program announced on Sunday that it has accepted an invitation to play Northwestern (7-5, 3-5) in the TicketCity Bowl on Jan. 1.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to play in the TicketCity Bowl," Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville said. "It is an honor to have a chance to play in any bowl game. With this being the first TicketCity Bowl, we're excited about it.

Who: Texas Tech and Northwestern
When: Jan. 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. CDT
Where: Cotton Bowl Stadium
TV: ESPNU (Suddenlink Ch. 553)
Series Record: First meeting.
Tickets: Tech's allotment of 10,000 tickets ($75) will go on sale at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The Red Raiders are the designated home team and will be located on the west sideline.

This will be Tech's fifth January bowl game in the last six seasons.

Northwestern has lost its last seven bowl games.
"Our players are looking forward to another game, having the opportunity to be able to play another game, practice and spend some quality time in the city of Dallas. I've been there before and had a great time at the bowl games before and I'm excited for the game this year."

Northwestern started the 2010 season 7-3 before quarterback Dan Persa ruptured his Achilles in the Wildcats' upset win over then-No. 13 Iowa. With Persa sidelined, NU lost its final two games against Illinois and Wisconsin by a combined score of 118-50.

"I've watched a little bit of them and I know they have had some bad luck with injuries," Tuberville said. "The coach there (Pat Fitzgerald has done a great job. I had the opportunity to watch the game last year against Auburn when they played in the Outback Bowl. What a game that was.

"They are very explosive. They can score a lot of points. They run a wide-open offense; they can run it and throw it. I know they've had some injuries but with some time off, they will have time to get someone ready to go.I know they are excited about playing in a bowl game also."

The TicketCity Bowl will take place at Dallas' Cotton Bowl Stadium, a field with which the Red Raiders are very familiar. In fact, it will mark the third time in two years that Tech has played at the venerable stadium.

"We are used to playing there, and we know the field and things like that," senior cornerback LaRon Moore said. "It's good to end in Dallas where we have a lot of support. Every time we have been there we have had a good turnout with fans and things like that, so it is going to feel like another home game for us."

RedRaiderSports.com has learned that the Red Raiders will likely stay at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, with the team's coaching staff arriving on Dec. 27 and the players following the next day. Tech's first bowl practice in Dallas is tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of Dec. 28.

The Red Raiders, who have never faced the Wildcats in football before, are the designated home team and will located on the west sideline.
