Dawgs win despite miscues
Mark Fox shaking his head.Sure, there are still aspects of his team's play that leave head coach
But as long as the Bulldogs keep winning he's not going to complain - well, not too much.
Take Georgia's 83-74 win over visiting Colorado, a game that saw the Bulldogs blow a 17-point first half lead before regrouping in the second half to come away with the nine-point victory.
"That was a real hard-fought game. We beat a well-coached Colorado team who I was extremely impressed with," said Fox. "This is a good win for our team. We got off to a great start, got in some foul trouble and gave up the lead but I was proud we were able to play well and come back down the stretch."
"You have to learn how to win these games," Robinson said. "It's easy to win blowout games and big lead games, but winning close games helps bring you together and build the confidence of everybody, which helps you to win those games in the future."
While Georgia did a better job off of the glass, outrebounding the Buffaloes (1-1) 40-to-35, 20 turnovers and a less than stellar showing from the free-throw line nearly cost the team.
The Bulldogs (2-0) went to the line 43 times, but converted just 27, including a less-than-memorable night by Chris Barnes who went just 5-of-13.
"I told our coaches our free throw shooting was going to cost us a game, and it almost did," Fox said. "I didn't have to be Nostradamus to predict that."
Leading 27-10 with 7:50 to go in the first half, Colorado went on a 23-6 run the rest of the way to tie the game at 36 heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the Buffaloes grabbed a quick 38-37 advantage and later led 64-63 with 4:57 to play.
But back came the Bulldogs.
From that point, Georgia went on a 9-1 run, building a 71-65 advantage with 2:36 left and never looked back.
"We got out big and let them back into the game at the end of the half," Price said. "We came out in the second half, delivered tough blows and got the win."
