Bail impresses in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Much of the star power in the 2011 and 2012 classes is in Akron, Ohio at the Lebron James Skills Academy, but there is still plenty of talent participating in the Adidas Invitational. As impressive as any player the first day was forward Wanaah Bail.

A skilled and athletic, 6-foot-8 combo forward, Bail had his complete arsenal on display against the Ohio Basketball Club. The lefty did the bulk of his scoring damage with pull up jumpers in the midrange, but he also scored at the rim and knocked down some three-pointers as well on the way to a game high 28 points for the Franchize All Stars.

Hungry for the ball, Bail is an active player as both a scorer and a rebounder. There is a little bit of a nasty edge to his game to go along with his length, athleticism and high skill level.

He is an elite prospect in the 2012 class who will make a strong push all the way to the top spot in the class.

D'Angelo Harrison (2011 Franchize All-Stars)- The game comes easy for Harrison, especially in the category of scoring. Cut out of a Scottie Reynolds type of mold, Harrison doesn't wow you with his physical gifts, but he seems to effortlessly and consistently put points on the board. Against the Ohio Basketball Club he dropped in 23 points.

Expect that scoring ability to seamlessly translate to the next level.

Harrison also did a nice job handling the ball in transition and delivering it to teammates with accuracy and timing.

Chane Behanan (2011 Ohio Basketball Club)- After his stellar play at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp, Behanan has the attention of virtually every school in the country. On Tuesday, the coaches were able to see first hand what the buzz about the five-star prospect is all about.

Against the Franchize All Stars, Behanan scored 18 points and grabbed a bushel full of rebounds. He displayed surprising mobility for a player with his size and strength, hands as good as any player in the class and an ability to make a variety of plays offensively.

Aaron White (2011 Ohio Basketball Club)- The 6-foot-8 post player made an impression on a number of college coaches with his hard nosed play and ability to stretch the defense with his three-point shooting range. White also surprised with an attack on the rim off a shot fake from behind the arc.

Shabazz Muhammad (2012 Dream Vision)- This 6-foot-5 left handed wing only gets better and better. He now has a more consistent long range jumper to go along with his upper shelf athleticism. Pulling his game together at an elite level, however, are his competitiveness and desire to grind tough plays out.

Along with Bail, look for Muhammad to challenge the three centers at the top of the 2012 rankings.

Torian Graham (2012 DC Assault)- Graham is another electric athlete on the wing in the 2012 class. He had a number of highlight plays around the rim to go along with his ability to put up points as a wing scorer. Presently ranked towards the bottom of the four-star status, look for Graham to make an upward move in the rankings.

Damien Wilson (2012 Atlanta Celtics 16-U)- Continuing the theme of athletic wings, Wilson had a huge showing against Indiana Elite. A left handed, high level athlete, Wilson typically does his damage attacking the basket and making athletic non-scoring plays. On Tuesday, however, he was dialed in from behind the arc and made some crafty shots in the midrange as well.

Antwan Space (2011 Urban DFW)- 6-foot-8 and skilled, Space has a nice feel for the game offensively. He shoots with range and has a nifty little runner in the midrange. He also finds open teammates while operating off the dribble where he can score off a variety of spin moves.

A good athlete, but not an overwhelming athlete, Space was also quick to the ball as a rebounder and shot blocker.

RECRUITING NOTES

Antwan Space has offers from Colorado, Houston and Florida International. Gonzaga is involved, and Texas recently called. An August visit to Florida International is in the works as his a September visit to Gonzaga.

Torian Graham has offers from North Carolina State and Xavier, and both schools are his favorites. He also listed East Carolina, Marquette, Howard, Boston College, Miami, Rutgers, Indiana and Penn State.

Tymond Howard has offers from Mississippi State, Baylor and Tennessee. Recently Colorado, Missouri, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Arizona have shown interest.

Jordan Manuel will prep this year at a yet to be determined location. The rangy and athletic wing is hearing from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Xavier, Cleveland State, Wright State and Detroit.

MORE NOTES

Only caught the last minute of the game, but 2012 shooting guard Gabe York hit a dramatic and difficult three-pointer off the dribble to give the Compton Magic a one-point win over the New England Playaz. York finished with a game high 23 points while Alex Murphy led the Playaz with 21 points.

Tommie McCune is an impressive long term prospect with his length and skill level. The forward scored 23 points Tuesday night with a number of coaches leaving the main location of the tournament to watch him.

Florida Assault has an impressive backcourt duo in Shane Larkin and Robert Brown. Larkin has one of the quickest burst to the basket in his class, and Brown is a three-point shooting threat with a heavy dose of athleticism.

In the absence of Quinn Cook, four-star point guard Jerome Seagears did an excellent job running the show for the DC Assault.
