TCU Nike Training Camp Recap
The Nike Training Camp on the campus of TCU is always one of the more anticipated events of the off-season circuit and Sunday's event didn't disappoint as over 200 of the top players from several states came together to put on quite a show.
Several players from the state of Texas stood out with solid performances on the day, obviously with the large amount of talent that was there it'd be impossible to get everyone who deserves mention.
Let's start with the in state quarterbacks and the top player in the bunch was Oklahoma State commit J.W. Walsh from Denton Guyer. Walsh who is extremely athletic looks the part and he's made huge strides since his sophomore year throwing the ball. Walsh is in my view the top signal caller in the state.
Lake Travis' Michael Brewer who is a Texas Tech commit is a bit undersized but he throws the ball well and may be a perfect fit in a wide open offense. A bit of an unknown prospect Cooper Jones from Class 2A Lone Oak showed promise not only at quarterback but showed outstanding skills catching the ball including a sensational one handed grab.
DeSoto's Ryan Polite and Arlington Martin's Russell Bellomy also had some good moments.
As always the group of backs was outstanding and the depth in talent was impressive. Kenny Williams from Pflugerville Hendrickson definitely passed the eyeball test and the Texas Tech commit performed well.
Chris Barnett was easily the most impressive tight end at the camp and Barnett was one of the top receivers at the camp regardless of position. Barnett displayed great hands and very precise route running.
The group of linebackers was outstanding and several performed quite well, standing out in that group was Dallas Skyline's Anthony Wallace.
