LeFevour named North MVP in Senior Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. - Former Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour accounted for two touchdowns to help lead the North to a 31-13 win over the South in the 2010 Senior Bowl on Saturday.

LeFevour was named the North's most outstanding player after completing 5-of-10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown and rushing four times for 12 yards and a score.

LeFevour entered the game in the third quarter with the North leading 17-13. The North went three-and-out on his first possession, but Jacoby Ford (Clemson) returned a South punt 39 yards to set up the North at the 29-yard line for LeFevour's second possession. LeFevour scrambled for a first down on third-and-8 from the South 27, then rolled to his right and connected with Garrett Graham (Wisconsin) for 10 yards on the next snap. LeFevour fumbled the snap on second-and-goal from the 1-yard line, but scooped the ball off the turf and scampered into the end zone untouched off the right side.

The score gave the North a 24-13 lead with just less than four minutes left in the third quarter.

The North forced a turnover two plays later, and LeFevour connected with Mardy Gilyard (Cincinnati) for 43 yards down the right sideline to move the ball inside the South's 10-yard line. The South defense stiffened, however, and LeFevour was eventually stopped a yard short of the goal line on fourth-and-goal from the 2.

The South advanced to its own 34-yard line before Tim Tebow (Florida) was stripped by Koa Misi (Utah) on a third-down pass attempt. On the next snap, LeFevour hit Gilyard in stride in the end zone for a 32-yard touchdown that put the game away.

LeFevour passed and rushed for a touchdown in the same game 21 times during his career at CMU, including during the Chippewas' 44-41 double-overtime victory over Troy in the GMAC Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. He was named most valuable player of that contest.

LeFevour, the Bowl Subdivision's all-time leader with 150 career touchdowns (102 passing, 47 rushing, one receiving) will now prepare for the NFL Combine, scheduled for Feb. 24-March 2 in Indianapolis.
