Oregon's Masoli not one to duck a challenge

North Carolina FS Deunta Williams intercepted three passes and returned them for a combined 103 yards in a 31-13 victory over Boston College.
Syracuse LB Doug Hogue had 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in a 31-13 upset of Rutgers.
Northwestern QB Mike Kafka was 26-of-40 passing for 326 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-31 upset of Wisconsin.
BIG 12
Nebraska SS Larry Asante had 10 tackles, intercepted a pass and forced a fumble in a 17-3 victory over Kansas State that clinched the Big 12 North title.
East Carolina wide receiver Dwayne Harris caught eight passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-21 victory over UAB. He also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.
Ohio WR LaVon Brazill caught five passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-31 victory over Northern Illinois. He also returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown to keep the Bobcats alive in the MAC East race.
BYU TE Dennis Pitta caught nine passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-21 victory over Air Force.
Ole Miss senior RB Dexter McCluster rushed for 148 yards on 24 carries and added the first passing touchdown of his career as the Rebels held on for a wild 25-23 win over LSU.
Troy QB Levi Brown was 27-of-36 passing for 477 yards and three touchdowns in a 47-21 romp past Florida Atlantic.
Fresno State LB Ben Jacobs had eight tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 1.5 tackles for loss as the Bulldogs escaped with a 30-28 victory over Louisiana Tech.
Army true freshman QB Trent Steelman rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in a 17-13 victory over North Texas. He also was 7-of-15 passing for 87 yards to help the Black Knights improve to 5-6; if they beat Navy on Dec. 12, they will go bowling.

Oregon's spread offense has a knack of building early leads with the running game. But Saturday night, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli left no doubt he and the Ducks could play from behind and win games through the air.

Masoli rallied the Ducks to a 44-41 double-overtime win at Arizona, preserving Oregon's Rose Bowl hopes. Masoli finished 26-of-37 passing for 284 yards and three touchdowns; he also rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns to earn Rivals.com National Player of the Week honors.

Masoli was brilliant in the fourth quarter and overtime after Arizona built a 24-14 lead. After the third quarter, Masoli was 15-of-25 for 147 yards and two scores. He also rushed for 21 yards and two scores.

Oregon plays host to Oregon State on Dec. 3, with the winner advancing to the Rose Bowl to face Ohio State.

QB B.J. Daniels, USF

A week after an embarrassing 31-0 loss at Rutgers, Daniels, a redshirt freshman quarterback, responded with a career day in a 34-22 victory over Louisville. Daniels was 20-of-34 for 304 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, setting career-highs in both rushing and passing as the Bulls got their seventh victory and became bowl eligible.

Robert Anae, BYU

Air Force quietly had put together one of the best defenses in the country, leading the nation in pass defense and allowing only one team to score more than 20 points all season (Utah had 23 in overtime). But Anae, BYU's offensive coordinator, guided a Cougars offense that passed for 377 yards and five touchdowns in a dominating 38-21 win.
