Bruins go live

Though the defense looked really good on Sunday's practice, there were opportunities for the offense to make plays. What this means is the competition between the two sides of the ball is beginning to even out and that will raise the play of everybody. UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel spoke to the media after practice.

Neuheisel: "It was a good practice. It was our first live contact, just little spurts of live tackling. We will get more into that as we go into the next week. I wanted to just get a taste of it, but a not a full while we are still dead legged, but I think we will be ready to roll again tomorrow.

"We will be back again in the morning tomorrow. We hit some short yardage stuff, working in some red zone stuff. We are kind of just building this team as we go, but I see lots of bright spots and then certainly lots of things to continue to work on.

"We just have to, with our youth; we have to know what we are doing. The kids have to know what they are doing and that is on the coaches. We as coaches have to make sure they know what they are doing."
