McGaughy getting several looks

Shannon's Keon McGaughy proved to be one of the most durable backs in North Mississippi rushing for over 1,500 yards and 28 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder is being looked at by a pair of instate programs and feels like he could be close to an offer from one out of state program.

"Recruiting has been going pretty good lately I guess," McGaughy said. "Louisiana Tech has been sending me all kinds of mail and and calling me acting like they are going to offer me. They have been the main one contacting me during the summer."

McGaughy received interest from both Southern Miss and Mississippi State during the spring.

But McGaughy has reservations about coming to MSU. It's not that he does not like the Bulldogs or their coaching staff but it appears that his cousin, Itawamba AHS running back Deshawn McGaughy may like them even more.

"I'm not really thinking about Mississippi State because my cousin is thinking about going there and I'm not trying to go where he is going," McGaughy said. "We play at different schools now and want to keep it that way. We talk about recruiting and that's why I said that might not go to Mississippi State because he said that he wants to go there where William Shumpert is at. We want to go to different colleges so we can keep that rivalry up."

The two McGaughy's went head-to-head on Oct. 24 last season with Shannon coming out on top 42-21. But there is one play that stands out in McGaughy's mind from that game.
