Dantzler hoping for an offer from the Dogs
Perry Central (Miss.) teammates Jaleel Dantzler and Nick Griffin have talked about playing together in college since they were in junior high.
Griffin, a three-star running back, has offers from Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Stanford and Vanderbilt but Dantzler is still awaiting his first. The 5-foot-10, 254-pound defensive tackle is hoping one will come from one of those programs so the duo can continue to be teammates.
"We've talked about it a lot," Dantzler said. "It would be nice if our lists would come together and be at the same school. Me and Nick have been playing ball together since junior high. We've got chemistry and if we can take that on to college it would be wonderful."
One of the programs the Bulldog duo are both being recruited by and have discussed playing together for is Mississippi State.
"I like Mississippi State," Dantzler said. "It's a pretty good school. Me and Nick talk about them a lot. We tried to come up there for their spring game and watch them but we didn't make it that day. We are going to try to make it to their camps this summer. I came up there last year to one of State's camps but now they've changed their whole administration now. I know I talked to Coach David Turner a lot last year and I like him."
Dantzler and Griffin also tried to take their trips together this spring. Both players made it to Southern Miss but only Griffin made it to Starkville, a visit in which he received his scholarship offer.
