Dieffenbach talks SU offer and visit

Pittsburgh (PA) Fox Chapel Area offensive tackle Miles Dieffenbach recently received an offer from Syracuse University and took a visit to the Big East program. CuseConfidential.com caught up with the offensive line prospect to see what he thought of the Syracuse offer and campus.

"I would say about two weeks ago Syracuse offered," Dieffenbach said. "It was very nice getting that offer. They have been down for the past couple of years, but they are a storied program. With the new coaches I know that they are going to be one of the top teams in the Big East."

Dieffenbach, 6-foot-5, 285 pounds has taken and look at the Orange roster and has talked with the Syracuse coaches and has a very good idea of what the Orange are looking for.

"One is that I could play early there at any position really. I played center my first two years, I played tackle this year, and I might play guard next year. I fit in at a lot of positions there. The depth is not there, so there will be a lot of space and just the way I play the game physical, tough off of the ball, and all of that fits in with what they are trying to do."

The Orange offer did leave a mark on Dieffenbach as he is well aware of the history at Syracuse with academics as well as football.

"It is a great academic school. I was walking around the campus with Coach Conley and it was just beautiful and everything was great there. The football team like I said I fully believe that the program will come back from all that has happened."

On April 18th the Keystone State product made a visit to Syracuse and he enjoyed himself.

"It was very good I had a chance to meet with all of the coaches. Getting to see the players, the sports complex, the academics they have, and it was nice watching the spring game also."

After the past Syracuse football season ended the fans of Syracuse were looking for a change. That change came in the form of Doug Marrone and it is his changes that have recruits looking hard at his program. It was that new attitude that stuck out for Dieffenbach.

"I would say definitely how personable all of the coaches were, they are all very nice and up front. They don't mess around that is the new things about that place. They want to get it done and they are going to get it done, so they are not going to be taking any slackers or people who just want to mess around."

Other than Syracuse the University of Pittsburgh has extended an offer to Dieffenbach as well. Besides those schools a few more comprise his list of top schools.

"My top schools are probably Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, Notre Dame, and Penn State and Northwestern

One of those program though might have a slight lead.

"My dream school is definitely Pittsburgh since I am from Pittsburgh and I have always been around that team."

A decision could come at any time for the offensive tackle. He just would to find a place where he is comfortable before he pulls the trigger.
