Lewis down to two; decision Tuesday

Mississippi State could be on the verge of adding the big man they have desperately seeking to complete the 2009 signing class.

Selma, Ala., power forward Wendell Lewis took his final official visit to Starkville this past weekend and has narrowed his choices down to two after the trip and will announce his decision and sign on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound three-star prospect has cut his list of 10 scholarship offers down to just Mississippi State and Auburn and will make his choice known to the pubic Tuesday morning.

As of Monday afternoon, Lewis stated that he had not made up his mind which Southeastern Conference program he would chose but liked qualities of both schools.

"Mississippi State has a nice program," Lewis said. "I like their facilities and I really like their academic center. The players and the coaches there are real nice. I like the atmosphere at Auburn and their style of play. They are both really nice."

Lewis was once a Middle Tennessee commitment and took his official visits to Mississippi State, Auburn, Western Kentucky, Troy and South Alabama. He left MSU impressed on his visit this past weekend for Super Bulldog Weekend.

"My visit went real good," Lewis said. "I went to the football game, the baseball game and got to tour the campus. I saw their facilities. I loved their academic center. Everything about that place was really nice."

Lewis also started to build a bond with the defending SEC Tournament Champions.
