Linder likes the Buckeyes
It should be little shock to anyone that the Buckeyes have shown up on the radar of another top Floridian in the recruiting world and while there might be a discrepancy as to if an offer has been extended there is no doubting that Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) offensive lineman Brandon Linder would like to learn more about the Buckeyes.
Linder is the third player from St. Thomas Aquinas high school that the Buckeyes are looking at going along with 5-star defensive back Lamarcus Joyner and fellow DB Cody Riggs. The 6-foot-6, 280-pounder already has more than a dozen offers and has added the Buckeyes to a list of schools including Miami (Fla.), Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Alabama and Tennessee that pique his interest the most. The four star lineman plans on attending the Gators' spring game this weekend in Gainesville (Fla.).
The Rivals250 lineman is currently listed in the recruiting database as an offensive center but is not closed to play other positions and that has been something that teams have taken notice of to date.
"I played center my sophomore year and tackle last season and all the schools have been recruiting me as a tackle, but the main thing they like is my versatility," Linder said. "Whatever position gets me on the field faster I am willing to play."
There is still some debate if Linder does in fact hold an Ohio State offer at this point. If an offer has been extended it would be news to the big lineman however but it would be welcome news as well with interest in Ohio State picking up over the last several weeks.
"Ohio State seems like a really great school so I have started talking about them and I am really interested and will have to see what they say," Linder said.
Linder admits that he hasn't really had much of a chance to speak with Ohio State this year but that he is very familiar with the coaching staff's visits to his high school.
"I have seen the coaches when they came down last spring and during the season when they were here looking at Duron Carter," Linder said. "But I haven't really talked to them much (this year) yet."
But even without much correspondence with the coaching staff Linder knows plenty of highlights about the Buckeyes and the program.
"It just a great program, a winning program and they have great academics and alumni," Linder said. "There are just such great connections up there and if Lamarcus (or Cody) were all to go there it would be nice to have them up there. Plus it is just a great school."
Many people have pegged Linder to be a Hurricane lead but the four star lineman was quick to point out that it is premature to be penciling in anyone as a leader at this point.
"I am kind of even on everything right now," "I have always been a Hurricane fan but I am not leaning toward one school or another right now."
So how does Linder see his recruitment playing out and what kind of timeline is in store for a decision or even some serious movement in the process?
"By the end of the spring I will probably narrow my list down to five after seeing how the spring goes," Linder said. "Then I will take it from there and take my trips. It is going to be such a hard decision and I want to make the right one so I am going to take my time with it."
And if Ohio State has/will offer, will they have a good shot of landing in that top five?
"Oh yeah," Linder said quickly. "Definitely."
