AL linebacker picks up his first offer
Hoover (Ala.) High School linebacker John Propst has had an incredibly productive high school career. He had 150 tackles as a sophomore inside linebacker and upped that total to over 200 tackles as a junior. Consequently he has been getting plenty of recruiting attention as well. Recently he picked up his first offer from West Virginia.
"I got it about two and a half weeks ago," Propst said. "I was very excited. I still am. I want to go visit sometime. One of our players is going there from last year so he's told me a little bit about the program but other than that I don't really know much about them."
Along with West Virginia, Propst has received attention from Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, UAB, Oregon and LSU.
"I would love to play in the SEC but whatever is the best fit as far as for football and education I'm open to so I'm not really sure yet," he said.
Saturday, Propst visited Vanderbilt for a junior day and previously took in LSU.
"I feel like Vanderbilt may be close to offering," he said. "I liked it a lot when I went up there Saturday. IT was real nice. Vanderbilt and LSU those are the only two I've been to so far. They were both real nice programs. I liked the coaching staffs at both places and they were good trips."
In the spring, Propst is considering visiting Mississippi State for its spring game and could also attend the Nike camp in Athens, Ga. Whatever he does do though, he will have to squeeze in between a busy baseball schedule. Also throughout the spring, Propst will be keeping his eye on his goals for the fall.
"I just want to help the team back to a state championship and make some explosive big plays and score some touchdowns," he said.
