Brown will look at Penn State
For a while it seemed as though Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O'Hara running back Corey Brown was going to go through the recruiting process without giving much thought to Penn State.
That surprised some folks, as Brown is undoubtedly one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania (as well as the nation) for the Class of 2010. Youngsters like that typically give the Nittany Lions a long, hard look, even if they end up committing elsewhere.
Now it appears as though Brown is more receptive to the idea of taking Penn State seriously as the recruiting process drags on.
"Well, I never really looked at them before," Brown said of Penn State.
"Recently I just figured I'll look at them since it's the state school. I guess I just said, 'I might as well.' Looking at them now I see that it really is a good school and a good place. I'm definitely going to be looking at them.
"I've been there before. Back when I was a sophomore I checked it out. I'm going back in March. I've been talking to coach (Ron) Vanderlinden but that's about it."
Brown picked up an offer from Alabama last week and that's the most recent big piece of news he has reported.
He said he plans on attending spring events -- practices or games -- at Alabama, Ohio State, Rutgers, West Virginia and possibly South Carolina.
