Streaks on the line as Auburn visits LSU

Auburn basketball has hit its stride in February winning four straight SEC games. But the Tigers will have to step it up another notch to stretch that streak to five as they take on No. 23 LSU Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

LSU (22-4, 10-1 SEC) has an even better streak, winners of 10 straight conference games, and holds a three-game lead over five other teams in the regular season SEC Championship race.

"The main thing about (LSU) is they are experienced," AU head coach Jeff Lebo said. "They have five seniors. Two of those seniors started on their Final Four team (in 2006).

"You look at their experience and their toughness, and they really defend. They are really committed to the defensive end. It is hard to get a lot of shots against them, and they are playing very well at home. They are 17-1 at home."

Senior guard Marcus Thornton leads LSU and is second in the SEC averaging 20.3 points per game. He lit up AU for 38 points last year.

Junior forward Tasmin Mitchell averages 16.9 points and 7.3 rebounds while senior center Chris Johnson averages 8.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks.
