Landry's road to 1,000 points
MADISON, Wis. - Heading into the rematch against Iowa tomorrow night, Wisconsin senior Marcus Landry needs only seven points to join the UW 1,000-point scorer club. On the season, the forward is averaging just less than 13 points per game and looks poised to reach the milestone against the Hawkeyes.
Before Wednesday's tip-off at the Kohl Center, BadgerBlitz.com takes a trip down memory lane and looks back at the games that have helped the Milwaukee native close in on the milestone.
Landry's freshman season: 2005-2006
Games played: 16 (Missed final 15 games after being ruled academically ineligible)
Minutes played: 15.4 mpg
Points: 96 (6.0 ppg)
Rebounds: 50 (3.1 rpg)
Shooting percentage: 47.4 percent from the field
Nov. 18, 2005: UW vs. Norfolk State
In his first career collegiate game, Landry scored nine points on 4-for-7 shooting, collected two rebounds and dished two assists in the Badgers 80-51 season opening win.
Nov. 19, 2005: UW vs. Eastern Kentucky
A day after opening the Paradise Jam tournament with a win, the Badgers ran into an upset minded Eastern Kentucky squad in the semi-finals. It took two overtimes to beat the Spartans, but Landry's 19 points and eight rebounds helped UW do just that. In the end, UW held on for a 95-89 win and went on to beat Old Dominion in the finals to win the tournament.
Nov. 26, 2005: UW vs. Coastal Carolina
Landry had played in the Kohl Center prior to being a Badger, but on this night, he officially introduced himself to the UW faithful. During the contest, he would score six points and tally four rebounds and assists in the Badgers 92-54 home opening win.
Landry's sophomore season: 2006-2007
Games played: 36 (Started the final six games of the season)
Minutes played: 19.2 mpg
Points: 211 (5.9 points per game)
Rebounds: 116 (3.2 rpg)
Shooting percentage: 51.9 percent from the field
Dec. 9, 2006: UW at Marquette
For the first time in over a year, Landry scored in double digits as he chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and two assists in the Badgers 70-66 win at the Bradley Center.
Feb. 20, 2007:UW at Michigan State
Just one day after Wisconsin earned a national number one ranking, the Badgers ran into a hot shooting Drew Neitzel and suffered a tough loss to the Spartans. Landry though, scored a season-high 18 points and recorded five rebounds in the losing effort.
March 3, 2007: UW vs Michigan State
After losing to Ohio State by one-point in what was essentially the Big Ten regular season championship game, Landry made his first career start against MSU in the Badgers next game. Unlike his double-digit effort in the first UW-Michigan State meeting, Landry struggled in his first start by mustering four points and three rebounds in the 52-50 Badger win.

Points: 389 (10.8 ppg)
Rebounds: 194 (5.4 rpg)
Shooting percentage: 46.6 percent from the field
Dec. 29, 2007: UW at Texas
Michael Flowers hit a three with time running out and then stole the ensuing inbounds pass to seal the Badgers season-turning win, but it was Landry's 14-point, three rebound and three assist game that helped put UW in position to steal the 67-66 win.
Jan. 31, 2008: UW vs. Indiana
Landry's 14-point, 11-rebound performance was good enough to help UW beat Indiana 62-49. It was Landry's first career double-double.
Feb. 13, 2008: UW at Indiana
With time running out in a crucial Big Ten match-up, Landry dropped a beautiful bounce pass to Brian Butch who calmly banked in the game-winning three-point shot. Landry also added eight points, two rebound and two assists in the win.
March 5, 2008: UW vs. Penn State
Landry's 15 points and four rebounds played a major role in UW's 77-41 blowout win over the Nittany Lions that clinched the regular season conference title.
March 16, 2008: UW vs. Michigan State
In the Big Ten tournament semi-final game, Landry scored 18 points and collected nine rebounds as UW came from behind to clinch a berth in the tournament championship game against Illinois by defeating the Spartans 65-63.

Nov. 16, 2008: UW vs. Long Beach State
In the season opener, Landry set a new career high with a 23-point performance on 7-for-10 shooting as UW held on to beat LBSU 68-61.
Dec. 1, 2008: UW at Virginia Tech
Junior guard Trevon Hughes hit a clutch runner with time running out against the Hokies to grant UW victory in the Big Ten/ACC challenge, but he had help. Landry scored 18 points throughout the contest and tallied four assists in one of the Badgers marquee road wins this season.
Jan. 3, 2009: UW vs. Penn State
Landry battled PSU standout Jamelle Cornley on the block throughout the game and eventually tied his career high with a 23-point outburst on 10-for-15 shooting. UW sustained a hot shooting Stanley Pringle in the second half to claim the 65-61 win.
Feb. 5, 2009: UW vs. Illinois
With his team desperately needing a win after dropping six-straight games, Landry responded with a 16-point, six rebound performance. He joined fellow teammates Jason Bohannon and Jon Leuer as Badger double-digit scorers.
