McKenzie completes busy weekend

Starkville Academy standout Johnathan McKenzie had a busy weekend.

Not only did the 6-foot-5, 240-pounder play in two basketball games but he also found time to visit Mississippi State on two separate occasions.

McKenzie played a basketball game in Indianola on Friday, visited Mississippi State Saturday before leaving for another game in Senatobia later that night.

"It was real exciting," McKenzie said of his visit. "It was nice to meet all the coaches. They treated us real nice. I got to see some of the facilities. When I met with all the coaches they talked about some academic things. I got to go to part of the basketball game."

McKenzie went back to campus on Sunday morning for the remainder of the visit.

"I went back this morning," McKenzie said. "We had FCA and I got to look at the dorms. I got to meet with my position coach (David Turner) individually. We talked over some things for a while."

One thing that blew McKenzie away was the response from the fans during the basketball game on Saturday. The recruits were given a standing ovation on the way to their seats.
