In-state RB visits Iowa junior day
Cedar Rapids Washington running back Andre Dawson has been to the University of Iowa a number of times, including several games at Kinnick Stadium, but this past weekend's junior day gave him a deeper look into the program. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Dawson had a chance to sit down and meet with the coaching staff and get an inside view of the Hawkeyes.
Iowa's interest in Dawson goes back a ways as the running back received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes prior to his junior year. While he remains open, the home state school continues to be near the forefront in his recruiting.
After rushing for 1,485 yards and 27 touchdowns this past season, Dawson is no doubt among the top in-state prospects in the recruiting class of 2010. Along with Iowa, he currently holds scholarship offers from Illinois and Wisconsin and is hearing from a number of others as well, including Oregon and North Carolina.
Currently, Dawson plans to stay patient with the recruiting process and wait to decide until close to signing day. Meanwhile, he is hard at work this off-season as he gets ready for next fall where he will be the focal point of Washington's offense after the graduation of future Hawkeye receiver Keenan Davis along with quarterback Wyatt Suess.
