KU kicks off Big 12 play with rival

There might not be a better game to begin Big 12 conference play than one of the all-time great rivalries. The Kansas Jayhawks (11-4; 0-0) are coming off a somewhat disappointing performance against Michigan State over the weekend, while the Kansas State Wildcats (11-4; 0-1) have already dropped a league game against the mighty Oklahoma Sooners. Both Bill Self of KU and Frank Martin of K-State are faced with tough challenges this season with so many fresh faces, but at 11 wins, both are in the mix for one of 65 NCAA tournament bids. The two foes are set to tip at 7:00 p.m. CST in Lawrence, Kan., at historic Allen Fieldhouse

Nobody expected Kansas to win in East Lansing, Mich., over the weekend, but the way the Jayhawks played in the first half was anything but impressive.
