Quinn to check out options

While most of Boston College's recruits appear to be solid in spite of the coaching change, defensive tackle Dillon Quinn appears to be ready to check out other schools. Where does BC now stand with the defensive tackle, and what other schools are now in the picture?

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound lineman from Pawling (N.Y.) Trinity held offers from Maryland and Virginia prior to committing to BC, so he has had other options all along. It wasn't until this week's events that he started to seriously consider those other options again.

"I mean, I knew the thing with (Jeff Jagodzinski) was going to happen, but the fact that they put an interim coach in doesn't show a lot of security to me. BC is a good program, though, and the alumni there aren't going to let everything fall apart.

"I've spoken to the defensive line coach (Jeff Comissiong) who recruited me. He's kept in touch with me on a regular basis, but he's been less available lately with how hectic things have been. I think he'll have more time to talk now."

So where does Quinn go from here?

"The one visit I have for sure is Cincinnati, then possibly UNC and Maryland," he explained, noting that the trip to UC will take place next weekend.

"I'm still committed (to BC), but my dad and coach just advised me to keep my options just in case. Personally, I'd like to see the job go to someone inside (the program). I'd like to see the defensive coordinator get it."

Other schools besides those he mentioned have been trying to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding BC's future.

"My phone has just been blowing up lately," Quinn said. "My coach's phone has been ringing off the hook. Michigan State and Miami have called. There have been a lot.

"I mean, the only other school (other than UC, UNC and Maryland) I would probably look at would be Penn State. They didn't offer me in the beginning and I don't know what their scholarship situation is like, but I'd look at them."
