Tide defeats Chattanooga 82-63

Alonzo Gee scored 20 points to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to an 82-63 win over the Chattanooga Mocs Monday night at Coleman Coliseum.

Gee led the Tide in the first half with 13 points and led the Crimson Tide to a 38-23 halftime score. In the second half it was two unlikely Crimson Tide players leading the way. Justin Knox scored 10 of his career high 14 points and Brandon Hollinger scored a season high 10 points in the second half to help the Crimson Tide seal the win.

Shooting was the key to the game for both teams. The Crimson Tide shot 50.7 from the field to Chattanooga's 38.7 percent. The Alabama defense also stepped up causing 15 turnovers and also having seven steals on the night.

Senior guard Stephen McDowell chipped in 15 points lead the Mocs, who fell to 2-8 with the loss. Chattanooga's win loss record is a little deceiving as they have played the toughest schedule in the nation so far. The Mocs have played one home game all season and have played on the road against Tennessee, Memphis, Davidson, USC, and Missouri.

The Crimson Tide will return to action Sunday night with a matchup against the Yale Bulldogs at 6 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum.
