Nicholls State Preview

Mississippi State has had an up and down December.

The Bulldogs are 2-2 this month with wins over Alabama State and South Alabama only to be followed by losses to Charlotte and Cincinnati. MSU will try to put another notch in the win column tonight taking on Nicholls State at 7 p.m. in Jackson at the Mississippi Coliseum.

Tonight marks the fifth consecutive season the Bulldogs have played in the 7,711 seat venue and hold a 12-5 overall mark at the facility since 1962. State has won it's last eight games there including last year's 77-53 win over Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Bulldogs sport a 4-0 record against Nicholls State with their last win being a 90-55 rout in Starkville in 2006. Mississippi State holds a 35-3 record against opponents from the Southland Conference.

The Bulldogs are 7-4 entering tonight's action coming off a 75-63 loss to Cincinnati on Thursday as part of the SEC/ Big East Invitational. MSU is averaging 74.9 points per game and shooting 45.6-percent from the field this season. They also drain 35.3-percent of their shots from downtown as well as 69-percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs are outrebounding their opponents by 3.7 per game and surrendering 64.2 points.
