Chizik visits with Hoover DB's
Hoover is a perennial football power in the state of Alabama with five state titles and three runner-up finishes this decade.
The Bucs annually produce a number of D-I prospects so it should come as no surprise that Gene Chizik made Hoover one of his first stops since being introduced as Auburn head coach Monday.
"It was a great visit," Hoover head coach Josh Niblett said. "We got to sit down and talk and I've got a lot of respect for coach Chizik. I think he's going to do a great job. I think the greatest thing about him is how he wants to help these young men grow up into men.
"He's a great football coach and an even better man. I think he'll be a great leader."
Chizik spent about an hour at the school Wednesday meeting with the entire Hoover coaching staff.
"He came by to introduce himself to our coaching staff and let everyone know he would be in here recruiting our guys hard," Hoover cornerback coach Danny Kimble. "He made a good impression on us. I think he's going to get Auburn football back to where it needs to be. He felt good about it. He's going to hit the recruiting trails hard and work hard."
But Chizik's visit to Hoover was more than just a P.R. stop. He also visited with two of Hoover's top 2009 prospects in cornerback Pat Miller and safety Brian Jackson.
