Jacobs discusses coaching search
Athletic director Jay Jacobs said the search for Auburn's new head coach began Wednesday night, just hours after the resignation of Tommy Tuberville.
While Jacobs didn't go into many details about the upcoming search he did say money would not be a limiting factor.
"Financially, we will not have any constraints," Jacobs said. "But this league has stepped it up. The tree has gotten a lot taller. And it's gotten a lot more competitive. And we're going to hire someone who is equally competitive."
Jacobs said he has already been in contact with Bill Carr of CARR Sports Associates, Inc., who will serve as a consultant in the search.
"Briefly last night, I had a 2- or 5-minute conversation with Bill Carr," Jacobs said. "As soon as I take care of a couple priorities today - one, meeting with the team - we'll begin to visit with Bill and move through that process."
