White talks favorites

One of top safety targets in the west is Riverside (Calif.) J.W. North athlete Lester White. He is a two-way starter from one of the better programs in the Inland Empire area of California.

According to, White ranks as the 39th best prospect in California at any position and the 34th ranked safety in the nation. He is a standout performer for J.W. North on offense, defense and special teams.

"Our season is going pretty well," White said. "We had a game last week versus (Riverside) Poly and we won 31-21. We are now 5-4. We have our last regular season game this Friday. We play Roosevelt. I think we are looking pretty good."

White reportedly holds offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Fresno State, Nebraska, Oregon State, San Diego State, UNLV and Washington State. He also said that a BCS power has begun to show serious interest in him lately.

"Recruiting is going pretty good," White said. "I don't have any new offers but I have been hearing from LSU recently."

The 6-foot-2 210 pounder has reported Nebraska as the leader for his services for a few weeks. Arizona State has remained a close second. Schools like Boise State and Oregon State, where White's cousin Derrick Doggett attended, have also caught White's attention. LSU is the newcomer to White's recruitment but they have made an impression.

"I like LSU's defense," White said. "I like the school as a whole. I really like the strength and conditioning program that they have down there. Nebraska is still my top choice and ASU is right up there with them."

White previously reported to that he was going to take the SAT in November and then would take his official visits. White chose to push back his test date until after his football season was over.

"I haven't scheduled any visits yet." White said. "I am now scheduled to the SAT in December, on the 6th I believe. After I have taken that then I will schedule my visits. I know that I want to visit LSU, Nebraska and Arizona State. I have not thought too much lately about what other schools I may visit."

White now plans on making a decision closer to signing day, after he has taken most of his official visits.

"I want to visit my top schools before I decide." White said. "On my visits I want to see what the campus lifestyle is like, I want to see if it is an environment that I see myself fitting in to. I want to see the coaches. I want to check out the strength and conditioning program.

"Location or really the distance (from home) doesn't matter. I want to see the depth chart, I would like to play early but that really probably doesn't matter. Where I go will be based on all of those things."
