DT Chandler knows of four officials

North Plainfield, New Jersey defensive tackle Tyson Chandler is one of the top prospects at his position in his state and as such he has attracted a lot of attention.

Chandler now holds offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, NC State, South Florida, Temple and New Mexico State. He's not sure if that list will continue to grow, but he is satisfied with where things stand today.

On the year he has helped North Plainfield to a 3-1 record. It has been frustrating at times because of the attention he receives from offensive lines, but he feels it will make him a better player in the long run.

"I'm doing good right now," Chandler explained. "I've been getting a lot of double teams and they're running to the other side a lot. It's frustrating but it's made me better. I don't have to be in on every play. I've been playing a little bit of offense too."

The 6-foot-6, 344-pound prospect said most schools are recruiting him as a defensive tackle, though with that frame he obviously has the potential to end up on the offensive line as well.

He hasn't scheduled any dates for official visits yet, but he knows of at least four schools he would like to go to.

"I've been talking with New Mexico State and NC State about that," he explained. "I think I'm going to the NC State-Miami game. NC State is my favorite right now. I want to go to Temple and Cincinnati, too.

"The biggest thing for me is I don't want to feel like an outsider wherever I end up. I want to feel like I'm at home again."

Chandler is rated the No. 52 defensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com.
