Smith leaves impressed by the Blackout

The University of Georgia had a long list of talented recruits on their campus Saturday and one of the top athletes in attendance was Branden Smith. The Rivals100 Peach State athlete spent time with the coaches, he met a UGA commitment, he watched the game, and he experienced the Blackout.

"It was a good game and both teams played hard, but I was very surprised Alabama won they way that they did," Smith said. "Both schools are recruiting me real hard and I was there just to watch the game, so I did not root for either school. Alabama played good, but Georgia will bounce back."

Did win help Bama or hurt the Dawgs?

"No sir, that doesn't even matter for me really. Both schools have good teams, so I am not worried about who won or lost. I am looking more at the academics and the overall programs."

Before the game, the 5-foot-11, 172 pound four-star corner spent some time with a trio of Bulldog coaches.

"I talked to Coach [Mark] Richt, [Rodney] Garner, and [Willie] Martinez while I was there. They all told me that they really want me and that they really need me at Georgia. They told me that I could be a big part of their program."

He was hearing those same kind of words from a Bulldog commitment. Smith spent time with a number of top prospects in Athens, but one was trying to get him to sign with UGA come February.
