Optimistic Stewart “well aware” of team’s challenges

A headstrong Bill Stewart reminisced over Thursday's 17-14 defeat versus Colorado, determined to focus on the positives rather than dwell on the negatives. In his Sunday teleconference, Stew praised his team's effort and return to the running game. He acknowledged that third-down concerns are warranted.

West Virginia has converted 12 of 34 third-down attempts-a 35-percent rate. Opponents are successful 49-percent of the time, with 22 successes on 45 tries. Third downs will be focused on in practice.

"Third down is a concern but we will get that worked out," said Stew. "That's why you practice and that's why you try hard and that's why you go back to the drawing board and try to get the best plays you can."
