Two schools standing out for Onwukaife

At the beginning of the summer, not many people had heard of Holmes Onwukaife. However, that all changed when the junior defensive end from Cedar Park (TX) High School posted one of the highest NIKE SPARQ scores in the country. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound defender ran an electronically timed 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds, ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.28 seconds and posted a vertical jump of 33 inches to record an overall rating of 118.86.

However, Onwukaife is not just a top college prospect on paper. His skills also show up on the field and the Austin-area product has colleges taking notice. Though just a junior, he has already heard from a number of schools, especially in the past few days.

"I know Sep. 1 is when they can offer and everything, but I haven't gotten anything like that yet," he said. "I've gotten a lot of mail from schools, though. Nebraska, Texas Tech, Arizona and TCU have all sent mail in the past day or so. I got stuff from Texas A&M this summer and last year as well."
