Kevin Craft meets the press

Kevin Craft was named UCLA's starting quarterback on Monday. Craft answered questions after practice in a very poised and levelheaded way. When Craft starts on September 1st, he will be junior college transfer to start at the quarterback since Mark Harmon did back in 1972 when he engineered a huge upset over then No. 1 Nebraska.

UCLA fans hope that Craft will do the same thing when the Vols of Tennessee come to town. The following is what transpired when Craft met with the media to talk about his promotion.

How do you feel about being named the quarterback?

Craft: "It just the next step. We still have to work hard and stuff. We already talked about all that."

When did Rick Neuheisel tell you of his decision?

Craft: "At the beginning of this practice and let us all know."

Given the fact that you were taking all the first team reps over the past week was it really a surprise or was more just confirmation?

Craft: "You just have to keep working hard and worry about yourself. I obviously, getting a lot of the work with the ones that helps you with your confidence and helps with everything going on."

Have you ever heard of Mark Harmon?

Craft: "Yes, I have…"

He was the last junior college transfer quarterback to start at UCLA in 1972 and he's a pretty good actor…

Craft: "It is nice to be that company."
