Lewis 'rusty', but ready to compete for QB job

Kellen Lewis has never been been in a situation during his college career where he has to compete to win the starting quarterback job. That, however, will change this year during fall camp.

Lewis, who has been the main guy since he was the team's only healthy QB during the Ball State game two years ago, will have to re-win the job from former backup Ben Chappell. After topping the depth chart during spring football, Chappell continued to take snaps with the first-string offense during Monday's practice - the first full-team gathering of preseason camp. Lewis ran the second-team offense and was one of about seven or eight players practicing with the quarterbacks.

Lewis admitted he felt a "rusty", particularly with his release.
