Brandon Hardin--Redshirt Review
From Joe Francis to Inoke Breckterfield, the Hawaiian Islands have produced many star athletes for the Beavers throughout the years and if Coach Riley and his staff have their way, there will be many more down the road. One such athlete looking to add his name to the Beaver record books is cornerback, Brandon Hardin from Honolulu.
While at Kamehameha High School, Hardin excelled in track, competing in six events at the 2007 Hawai'i State Track & Field Championships. Slowed by nagging shin splints, Hardin took 5th place in the Long Jump, 2nd in the Triple Jump, 1st in the 100 meters, 4th in the 200 meters, and contributed to both the 4x100 relay and the 4x 400 relay, which earned 2nd and 4th respectively. All of this success on the track and it was his play on the football field that drew the college recruiters including Oregon State Defensive Coordinator, Mark Banker.
"He has probably had the healthiest year he has ever had as far as his legs are concerned," said Banker recently. "He has always been a track athlete and was a track standout at Kamehameha, and had always had leg problems specifically with his hamstrings and then his shins. This year, once he got here, as far as I know he has had none of those issues."
