Will Simmons talks about ECU offer

AHOSKIE, N.C. - Ahoskie (NC) Hertford County offensive guard Will Simmons is high on the East Carolina recruiting board.

The local eastern North Carolina product stands 6-foot-6, 342 pounds and is a big time pass blocker and offensive lineman with skills that ECU offensive line coach
Steve Shankweiler typically likes.

Simmons talked to Pirate Illustrated about the recruiting process so far and where ECU stands, being his first offer.

"It's going real good, just working hard in the weight room and we've got these exams coming up," said Simmons, "I'm coming up there for camp. I'm not sure which week I'm going, but I just know that I'm going."

The Ahoskie product is getting interest from Auburn, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, Stanford and others as well as the Pirates who have shown the most interest.

Who are some of Simmon's favorites and what does Simmons like about the Pirates?

"I like Virginia and North Carolina, but the coaching staff is what I like about ECU", Simmons said, "Coach Shankweiler has come out to the school and talked to me."

Even though it's still somewhat early in the process for some, Simmons talked about his ECU interest.

"It's high, it's my first offer, I'm real excited about it and it is one of my favorite schools, according to Simmons, "I've been to East Carolina several times."
