Shinn starting to draw more looks

Matt Shinn attended the Los Angeles NIKE Training Camp last month, hoping to improve his stock as a Division-1 recruit.

Mission accomplished.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder from Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Los Osos established himself as one of the top offensive linemen at the event.

"He was very tough and competitive," wrote analyst Rick Kimbrel. "He didn't back down from anyone and was always ready to do battle."

It was reported that Shinn has already received his first scholarship offer from Colorado. But according to Shinn, he is still waiting for his first offer.

"Colorado has sent me mail and I got to meet a coach from there (Coach Brian Cabral) recently," Shinn explained. "But I haven't gotten any offers yet.. Right now I like San Diego State, Colorado, Arizona and Boise State."

Utah, Colorado State and Weber State are other programs that have shown early interest.

This summer, Shinn said he plans to attend as "many camps as he can get to".

"I am planning to attend San Diego State's camp," he said. "That is one of the main schools that I want to go to because it is kind of close to home and I just like their program. I visited there a couple months ago and I liked the campus. It is in a good area."

Shinn was named honorable mention all-Baseline League last fall as a junior.
