Christopherson's coach talks up ISU transfer
Greg McDermott added another marksman to his arsenal on Wednesday when Scott Christopherson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound guard out of LaCrosse, Wisc. officially transferred from Marquette to Iowa State. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Christopherson will be forced to sit out next season and he'll take the court in a Cyclone uniform for the first time as a sophomore in 2009.
Last year at Marquette, Christopherson suffered an injury to his right meniscus and had arthroscopic surgery that kept him out for much of the season. After Golden Eagles coach Tom Crean recently took a job at Indiana, Chrisopherson decided to move on as well.
He visited Iowa State this past weekend and his old high school coach Rick Snyder said that it was a perfect match.
"The first time around when he committed to Marquette he had just gotten done with his freshman year of high school. Now he's older. He's more mature and I think he just understands things better," Snyder said. "He knows exactly what he's looking for. When he went to Iowa State and spent some time there, he knew what he was looking for so what's the point in looking around? He found it and was ready to commit."
