Faber has a great visit to DePaul

One of the most sought after unsigned big men prospects for the Class of 2008 has been 6'11" Los Angeles center Krystopher Faber, who has been known to be favoriting Tubby Smith's Golden Golphers of Minnesota, but after this past weekend that all changed, as Faber took an official visit to Chicago to see what the DePaul Blue Demons were all about. "The visit was great", said Faber. "Right now Minnesota and DePaul are neck in neck. I really like both."

Krys landed in Chicago on Thursday, accompanied by his father, and were escorted by both Ramon Williams and Jerry Wainwright. While on the visit, Krys was able to view the campus, as well as take in the sites of Chicago. "I was able to see the campus and talk to the coaches", explained Faber. "I was also able to hang out with the guys and see the city. You know they say...when in Rome!" Faber was also able to hang out with 2008 Demon commit Jeremiah Kelly, and scrimmage with the team. "I got to play a pick-up game with the guys", said Krys. "Dar [Tucker] was amazing. He could jump like crazy. And Mac [Koshwal] is a beast. He's just so strong and big." Another player Faber was impressed with should be good news for the Demons, as it was redshirt freshmen Kene Obi. "He really had a nice touch around the basket. He had a nice little jump hook, and a turnaround jumper. I think people will be surprised next season."

DePaul's pitch to Faber is equally as impressive. "Coach Wainwright stressed to me that he's going to be running his offense inside-out", stated Faber. "So that means I'm going to get alot of touches." However, DePaul isn't recruiting Faber the same way the others have been, as they do not see Krys as a center. "Coach Wainwright is recruiting me as a four, that can defend the five, and at times can defend the three", stated Faber. "And since they don't have many post players, I would get immediate playing time. That's a huge factor! And Coach Wainwright has had success with bigs, like Tim Duncan, and most recently Wilson Chandler."

Per Krys, he would like to make a decision in the next couple of weeks, but realizes that this might be one of the most important decisions in his life. "Right now DePaul and Minnesota are tied. I'm really high on both. I might take visits to St. John's and South Florida, but I'm not sure. Right now it's between those two."

When Krys does make his decision, you can count on The Demons Den reporting it to you...so stay tuned!
