Former d-end undergoes heart surgery

Quentin Groves went to the NFL combine hoping to dazzle NFL coaches and scouts with his combination of size, speed and athleticism. While Groves put up some impressive numbers at the combine he also received some shocking news during his medical examination.

Groves was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, an abnormality in the heart's electrical system that can cause rapid heart beats.

"They did the EKG and they found the WPW," said Groves. "I was like, 'What is it?' The first thing I asked was can I still play football. They said, Yea, it's something you've played with this long in your life and it won't hinder you.'

"I asked if I should get it fixed and the doctor said, 'If you were my son, I'd tell him to get it fixed.'"
