Lawrence ready to be a Bulldog

Senatobia (Miss.) Magnolia Heights athlete Cameron Lawrence has picked up early offers from Duke, Oklahoma State and the home-state school of Mississippi State. This weekend, the 6-foot-2 205-pounder decided that he didn't need to wait on any more and committed to the Bulldogs.

Lawrence's father Carl confirmed the commitment on Sunday.

"He committed to Mississippi State yesterday," said Carl Lawrence. "I think he's just been praying about it and thinking about it."

Lawrence's visit to Starkville this weekend played a big role in his early decision, particularly his interaction with Coach Croom.

"Him talking to Coach Croom helped," Mr. Lawrence said. "Coach Croom had a good speech that put him over the edge and really fired him up and made him want to represent Mississippi State. Coach Croom said he wanted to finish what he started and that's win an SEC Championship."

Lawrence will be getting an early start on helping get to the top of the SEC as he has plans of being an early enrollee and anticipates being on campus next January.

Rivals.com will have more from Cameron Lawrence today.
