KU prepares for UNLV

If Jayhawk fans were nervous heading into Thursday morning's opening round game, their concerns were quickly put to rest as top-seeded Kansas (32-3, 13-3) pounded the Portland State Vikings (23-10, 14-2), 85-61. Brandon Rush led all scorers with 18 points, while three others joined the junior forward in double figures. PSU managed just one player in double digits, as the Vikings could not keep up with the balanced Jayhawks, who were once again lights out from behind the arc.

With a long rest, by NCAA tournament standards, between now and Saturday, KU can prepare for a second round match up with UNLV, who dismantled Kent State in the second game of the day in Omaha, Neb.
