Barnes out for the year

Georgia forward Chris Barnes confirmed Thursday evening that he will miss the rest of the year with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

He is scheduled to undergo surgery next week.

Barnes injured the knee in the second half of last week's loss to Tennessee after missing the South Carolina game with an eye infection.

His absence leaves Georgia with just three frontcourt players - Dave Bliss, Albert Jackson and Jeremy Price.

Barnes was averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 21 games.

Georgia travels to Vanderbilt Saturday before hosting Florida next Wednesday.
