Auburn signees working for championship
For the last two seasons, Tay Waller and Johnnie Lett have helped Okaloosa-Walton Community College to nearly 50 wins on the hardcourt.
The Auburn signees hope to bring that winning attitude to the Plains later this year, but they still have some unfinished business at OWCC.
The No. 6-ranked Raiders (24-3) close out the regular season Wednesday against Tallahassee C.C. and will play in the FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII State Tournament Mar. 5-8 with a bid to the national tournament on the line.
"I think our season is going pretty good right now," said Waller. "Everyone is confident and we feel like we know what it takes to get there. We keep working hard in practice every day and I think we can bring it home."
Waller is averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game, shooting 43 percent (128-of-300) from 3-point range. He's also averaging 3.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
