Is Polk still expected to sign with CU?
There were some nervous Colorado fans on the Stampede Elite message board this morning.
Ray Polk's name had yet to shown up on the list of confirmed signees on the CU Sports Information website.
According to his coach at Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep, Polk still plans to sign with Colorado today.
"We are having a signing day ceremony at the school at noon," Coach Scooter Molander explained.
A Rivals.com four-star prospect, Polk is considered the fourth best prospect from the Grand Canyon State this recruiting cycle. He rushed for 1,166 yards and 12 touchdowns this fall as a senior.
"First of all, with Ray Polk, Colorado is getting a fantastic young man," Coach Molander said. "At the end of the day, character matters and he has great character. They are going to get a guy that is extremely fast, a guy that can run inside and outside, a guy that can pass block well and a smart football player as well."
According to Molander, Polk is also a good student in the classroom.
Polk verbally committed to Colorado in mid-October but he decided to take an official visit to Arizona State in January.
"Ray loved Colorado and he very much likes ASU," Coach Molander said. "He wanted to take a look at the home town school, particularly in light of how well they had done last season.
"It was not comparing apples with apples because it is your hometown school versus the school that he fell in love with out of the state. So it really was comparing apples with oranges, in other words, two very different situations. I think it goes to his character where he stuck by his word, his hand shake and his verbal commitment to Colorado."
